Synesthesia research benefits innovative design by incorporating both common cross-sensory processes and genuine synesthetic processes. All products need a multi-sensory design to ensure a coherent appearance across all senses and enhance user feedback. Synesthesia fosters collaboration between art, design, and science. The multi-sensory approaches developed at the Bauhaus during the 1920s and 1930s show that attention to the arts supports innovative design.
